Dear Fellow Aggie,
Perhaps, like me, you've always believed that progress was inevitable — that each generation would inherit a world with more opportunity than the one before it. That once doors were opened, they would remain open. That history naturally bends toward progress.
But all we have to do is look around to recognize that progress is never guaranteed. It requires courage. It requires intention. It requires people who are willing to lead, to serve, and to invest in the future.
As we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Black Former Student Network as an official constituent network of the Association of Former Students, I am especially honored to recognize the Pioneers whose vision, perseverance, and sacrifice created opportunities for generations of Black Aggies. Our 2026 Aggie Impact Weekend Honorees: The Pioneers represent that enduring legacy of leadership and remind us that every opportunity we enjoy today exists because someone before us chose action over complacency.
Now it is our turn.
I'm asking for your intention. I'm asking for your action. I'm asking you to help ensure that the future of Black Aggies is even stronger than our past. Together, we can continue opening doors, creating opportunities, and building a legacy that the next generation will one day celebrate.
They say every weekend in College Station is Homecoming. And in many ways, that's true. But in 2026, we're creating something different.
As BFSN celebrates 25 years as an official constituent network, we are inviting Aggies from near and far to return, reconnect, and celebrate a legacy that has been built over generations. This milestone year is more than a celebration of our past — it is an opportunity to honor those who paved the way, applaud those making an impact today, and invest in those who will follow.
And while every weekend may feel like Homecoming, it is not truly Home without you.
To help make this a memorable and meaningful celebration, we are assembling Host Committees for several signature events throughout Impact Weekend 2026. We would be honored to have your name, your presence, and your support represented among our hosts.
Most importantly, Host Committee participation helps offset event expenses, strengthens our programming, and allows us to continue creating opportunities for students and young alumni to participate in Impact Weekend.

Friday, November 6
At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to honoring and paying homage to the pioneers who paved the way for future generations. The VIP Reception is a tribute to their resilience, sacrifice, and enduring impact, bringing together our esteemed pioneers, special guests, Texas A&M officials, and key community and business leaders.
Saturday, November 7
This year will honor the BFSN Pioneers, the trailblazing Black Aggies who enrolled at Texas A&M in the class of 1979 or earlier. While the Breakfast of Champions has traditionally centered on current students, this Legacy Edition celebrates the men and women who made that student experience possible. Pioneers, alumni, current students, and distinguished guests will come together for a morning of inspiration, networking, and fellowship, as pioneers share their stories of resilience, determination, and leadership, leaving a lasting impact on the next generation of Aggies who now walk the path they built.
Saturday, November 7
The Aggie Impact Gala (AIG) culminates seven years of honoring excellence and funding our future! This event continues to support the advancement of Black students while celebrating former Black students who have made an impact in their communities and professions. The proceeds collected support higher education in the community through the Aggie Impact Endowment Foundation Excellence Award, which financially supports a gap in funding for underserved students.
Sunday, November 8
Gospel Brunch is the uplifting culmination of a weekend filled with celebration, fellowship, and appreciation. This powerful event brings our community together in worship, featuring an inspiring performance by a well-known gospel artist and honoring the legacy of Voices of Praise—both past and present.
Host Committee Participation
Joining a Host Committee is an opportunity to publicly support the 25th Anniversary of the Black Former Student Network and Impact Weekend 2026. Your Host Committee contribution helps make these signature events possible while recognizing your commitment to honoring the past, applauding the present, and funding the future.
